Very true, and for those who need or want to improve productivity by listening to speech at faster than 
normal human 
speech rates, the sampled synths do not sound good at all past a certain point. 
Synths such as espeak or the old ibmtts, (voxin, viavoice, eloquence, take you pick), lose very little 
clarity as speech 
rate increases up to speeds beyond where most listeners no longer have good conprehension.
It would be nice to have easiably installable/configurable sampled voices for languages where ther's no good 
alternative, 
and for tasks like reading for pleasure.
