no, I would not be able to creat .deb packages for every commit, that
a tall auder even for me!
you say that your machine will be formatted correct?
after you get it back I would install ubuntu-mate in the future gnome
even on my system is quite laggy I have 8gb ram and 4 cores on this
system.
could just be me corse.
if it's going in for repare, doo ask them to take a look at everything
make sure it's working well and if you have the cache I would advise
you upgrade the ram on your system.
be ware!
ubuntu's version of gnome is not the same as standerd gnome!
theyve made changes to make it look somewhat like there unity desktop
to assist with the ease of transission, so any issues you have may
just be with that version of gnome and could have been fixed upstream.
also remember, that after ubuntu's lts release was well, released, the
packages are aultomatly frozen till the next point release I could be
wrong on this little bit.
in my  book if you still want to see if this issue still persists, a
distribution like fedora would be one to try in a virtual machine
maybe?
it's gnome without the tweeks made by the ubuntu fokes.

different commits, I am not sure how you will be able to functionally

after you've downloaded this, do the folowing exactly as I write
here:
open a new terminal
when the terminal window has opened cd to your downloads directory
where firefox saves your files for me I would do this
cd Downloads

assuming that your downloads dir is the same as a default ubuntu
install,
just
cd Downloads
then you run this
sudo dpkg -i orca_3.28.3pre-1_amd64.deb


when you type that or copy and paste that a password prompt will
show
enter it
the .deb should install.
if this does not work type the folowing
assuming you are still in your folder where firefox saves
downloaded
files write?
make sure the orca file you just downloaded is the only .deb in
that
folder.
type this
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
will install all debs in the folder
should only be my orca deb.
after it's finished,
type
orca --replace
press alt plus f2 type
orca --replace

I hope this works for you,
respond with questions or flames if everything goes up in smoke or
well.

1. cd into your orca directory
2. git checkout gnome-3-28
3. git pull
4. build (make) and install it
5. quit Orca and re-launch it
6. in a terminal, type orca -v (you should get 3.28.3pre)

Is Orca suddenly speedy?
