Hi Sebastian.
What sort of compromise? In Evince Orca isn't overriding the keystrokes.
In Firefox, you could bypass a single key press with Orca's bypass
command. Also in Firefox, you could enter sticky focus mode in which
Orca turns all keys over to Firefox without consuming them. Both of
these options stop conflicts with Orca's navigation. Is something else
needed?

I have a similar setup, though I am preparing my notes on paper (in braille) to
be more fault-tolerant :). I am using a special notation for overlays, but as
you have pointed out, this does not help against scrolling twice accidentally.
It is possible to embed sound files in the PDF and I hence tried to include a
quiet and short clicking sound when I switch slides (as opposed to uncovering an
overlay). At least Evince and Okular seem to not support multimedia playback.
The trouble is that presentation mode disables accessibility features. But even
if it were enabled, normal keyboard navigation would not work. Most external
presenter tools expect `arrow down` or `arrow right` to open the next slide and
that would conflict with Orca's navigation. Still, I would really appreciate if
the presentation mode could get the same level of accessibility as the normal
one.
@Joanie, is there a chance we could sort out a compromise here?
Thanks
Sebastian
