OK, if you go with the super key, then from there, ctrl+tab, eventually,
you would land on what I think is called the Dash, it may be called the
dock, I don't recall. Basically, here, you used to could dock apps,
files, folders, etc, that you use on a regular basis, and could very
quickly get to them and open/launch them. Basically, think of it like a
place to pin items you often would need within your window that pops up
after hitting the super key.

I use Ubuntu and Gnome, and I don't see any issues with the dash,
assuming we're referring to the same thing. What issues are you
referring to?

Oh, that's because in 16.04, you were using the Unity desktop. I
suppose, if you really really want to get that back you could
probably install it, but, honestly, why.
Secondly, if you really want the Alt+F1 back, which I don't blame you
at all, by the way, then you may want to try Ubuntu-Mate, instead of
just plain Ubuntu.

It comes by default with the Mate desktop instead of Gnome 3. Don't
get me wrong. Gnome 3 is perfectly 100% accessible, well, OK,
fauighn! 99.999%. LOL! The dash doesn't exactly work, or as some
would call it, the dock. Not sure it's correct term, but yeah, big
whoo. Aside that... I just personally don't prefer Gnome at all, but
it's still there, if you really want it. But yeah... for your alt+F1
and such, try the Mate desktop. I'm telling you... you'll swear by
it, most likely!

Hi,
In Ubuntu 16.04 Alt+F1 was for Unity.
In 18.04 press super+A to find all applications with Tab or Arrow keys.
Or press Super key and start type the name, for example f for
Firefox, Orca will speak the result, you then also can press Tab,
and Enter on the one you are looking for.

Hello from Russia!
After upgrading to 18.04 alt + f1 key combination, I can’t see the
list of applications and select and launch some applications from
this list from this panel.
On version 16.04 and early, everything worked well.
How can I fix this? Orca speak word"window" only.
