Hello all,
On behalf of, mostly Vojta, I am proud to announce that
project
Fegora
has got the official name Vojtux.
What is Vojtux?
Vojtux project is still in the development process. The goal
of the project is to create a Fedora remix that is user friendly
for visually impaired and blind users.
Vojtux brings the following changes, among others:
- Environment variables for accessibility are configured
from the start.
- The Orca screen reader starts as soon as the graphical
interface loads.
- A custom repo is added with extra voice synthesis and
packaged software.
- Many alternative keyboard shortcuts have been added.
- There's a special script that can turn your monitor on and
off. Many users do not need the monitor at all and having it
off is a great power saver!
Why Vojtux and who chose the name?
Vojtux is named after Vojtěch Polášek, who is a blind
software engineer from Red Hat, working in the security
compliance team. Vojta is focusing on computer security and
also accessibility for blind users and he is the heart of the
now Vojtux
project.
Vojta asked people from the community for help with
choosing a new name for Fegora and a group of Red Hatters
voted for the winner.
Best regards
Lukáš Tyrychtr
