Hmm .. ok but what is displayed as error messages ?
I'm using:
$ rpm -q automake autoconf
automake-1.8.5-1
autoconf-2.59-3

without any problems.
I't wil be good know what is realy incorrect instead blindly reverte 
change in autogen.sh.
