Hello Andrew,
From my understanding and the way i use it is to link those tasks thus
having them follow one another. I concur however that that type of
smarts would be a nice to have but can easily be emulated using the above.
Hope that helps, shout if i'm not being clear as i do suffer from that
sometimes.
Regards
Gary

Hi all,
My name is Andrew De Ponte. I having been messing around with Planner
trying to decide if I should use it to plan a development project which
I have to plan. Anyways, I started out with it and all is working great.
There is only one thing that I am confused about. It may very well be
that it is due to my ignorance. Hence, why I am e-mailing this mailing list.
The problem I am having is that I have a number of resources, lets say
developers for this example. I then defined a number of tasks each which
have sub tasks. Let's start with the first task "Research Some Topic"
which has two sub tasks "Search for Existing Solutions" and "Explore
Solution Medium". The first sub task is assigned a work time of 5 days
and the second sub task is assigned a work time of 1 day. Both of these
sub tasks are assigned to the same Developer with a 100 units assigned
to each one, however the total time the parent task of these sub tasks
has is 5 days.
How, is this possible. It would make sense if the resources were
different people, because then the two sub tasks could be done at the
same time. However, since the to sub tasks are assigned to the same
person (resource) it should take a total of the some of the two sub
tasks (6 days) in this case. Correct?
So, is this a problem with Planner or am I missing something about how I
should be using Planner? I am using Planner 0.13 which is what I
understand to be the latest version.
Thanks in Advance,
Andrew De Ponte
