Thanks so much. About translations, thanks for adding the link to
"supporting other languages" guide but it seems to be an in-depth
information for developers. What would be lovely is a simple guide for
non-developers to learn how they can contribute translations. At this
point, it would be fine to assume some basic familiarity with git.
For translations, please get in touch with the l18n team to ask for
your project to be set up with their infrastructure.
It's still not been added to the Apps page yet, shall I go ahead and add it?
If you meant this page:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps
you'll find it's already added automatically for you :)

Could someone provide context, e.g. what "app"? Plus I'm not even sure
who wrote what in the quoted email due to missing attribution.
I was going to provide a link to board-list archive but seems that's
not public accessible. Here is the orginal email of this thread:

Hi Everyone,
I'm working on a Google Summer of Code project [1] under the
mentorship of Zeeshan Ali.
Half of my project was to create an Android application. Now that the
application is ready, we are expecting to publish it on two major
Android app stores F-droid and Google Play. Google Play doesn't have
an official GNOME account yet; and in my opinion it should have one,
for more Android applications to come.
Google Play has a one time fee of $25 for developers.

If you like, I can forward the entire thread to release-team list?

It seems like a shame if we don't distribute the app on the
Play
store. As far as I can see, while there's a few things to work
out, it
shouldn't be all that difficult to resolve them.
The thing is that I'm really not the person to deal with those
issues
so I don't know if they are difficult or easy to solve. If
someone
else can take care of all the bureaucratic and administrative
issues/questions involved, that would be lovely.
The main thing that's required is an agreement with the Release
Team
about how the process should work.
Release team is usually pretty busy and thin on resources so I'm not
sure if they could take more work/responsibility on their shoulders,
but I'll ask (adding to CC).
A good starting point would be to
create a wiki page for the app (under https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/
),
with the usual details:
* List the maintainer, development resources, bug tracking.
* Explain how contributors can get involved.
* Explain how the app can be tested.
* Screenshots?!
That could be easily arranged, Ankit could you please take care of
that? You can take a look at other wikipages under
https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/ for examples.
And since it's an Android app, it would be good to have a few notes
on
how translations and documentation work.
Not sure if documentation is much needed here but translations, yes
we
need a way to handle those. I have no clue about Android so this is
another thing Ankit will have to answer.
...
I guess I'm missing something here, but what would be the
motivation
for moving to freedesktop.org?
Cause geoclue is there and this is more a part of geoclue than
GNOME,
even though currently GNOME is the only desktop that will benefit
from
it.
I'm not so sure about this. GNOME seems far better equipped to
maintain and release user facing software than Freedesktop.
Of course but IMHO that is not relevant unless we want release team
to
create infra to build (and upload binaries to Play store). Otherwise,
whether it's going to be on Play store, our webspace or geoclue's
webspace, we simply provide link to that.
