I'll try that - even though I am puzzled: how on Earth is it possible to
convert, say, Russian characters to iso8859-1? iso8859-1 doesn't cover
them. Of course, you can always write a Unicode character as a sequence
of one-byte symbols  - which is exactly what utf8 does. But anyway, I'll
try.

BTW: it is not true that id3 tags are supposed to be iso8859-1 encoded.
According to  http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0.html
id3v2 tags can contain Unicode text - but in 16-bit` encoding (utf16)
rather than utf8. Maybe Is hould experiment  with asking easytag to
encode the tags in utf16 encoding...
