You might want to use dbus, 
next track:
dbus-send --dest='org.gnome.Rhythmbox' /org/gnome/Rhythmbox/Player
org.gnome.Rhythmbox.Player.next

previuos
dbus-send --dest='org.gnome.Rhythmbox' /org/gnome/Rhythmbox/Player
org.gnome.Rhythmbox.Player.previous

you can check the rest of them in gnome's gconf-editor
