This is probably the right thing to do, but since this isn't something
I test at all, I don't have exact instructions.

Check that you're installing plugins for the version of GStreamer that
Rhythmbox is using. You may be installing GStreamer 0.10 plugins while
Rhythmbox is using GStreamer 1.0, or vice versa.
