... There haven't been changes to src/cursors.c src/colors.c. What gcc/make versions?

first try again with: 

    make clean
    ./autogen --prefix=/usr
    make
    make install

if that does not help:

    make -C src/ clean
    CFLAGS="-Wall -ansi -pedantic" ./configure --prefix=/usr
    make -C src/

    and post the output of "make -C src/"
