xdg-open knowledge, anyone?

Hi all,

lately I've been using sawfish standalone.
(fbpanel as systray, sawfish-pager, gsd, screenlets)

Well I have a problem with the FolderView Screenlet
( http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Folderview
+Screenlet?content=102890 )

( :3 for KDE4-Feeling with Sawfish )

When clicking on a folder it performs:

xdg-open <path>

but: outside of GNOME/KDE/XFCE xdg-open seems to not be setup correctly:

a) it gets wrong mime (octet-stream instead of normal-directory)
b) it does *not* open Nautilus ... ($? == 4 -> "action failed")

modifying the FolderView Screenlet to use gnome-open works, but that's
not the way to go. So my question is, wether someone does have some
knowledge about xdg-open and could guide me to victory.

Thanks in advance,
Chris
