Er, I was being sloppy here. It's not added to
after-initialization-hook, it's added to after-add-window-hook *in*
after-initialization-hook. (And I have no excuse for not remembering
that, since I was just working with that section of code a bit back.) A
queued-avoid should have no reason to be added in such a complicated way
-- the reason it's necessary for maximize is so that the avoid property
has been set on all windows on startup before maximizing happens.
If I have a chance later today I'll actually try out the code you sent
out.
