Hi

I have installed Tracker from Fesity apt-get repository. I have Fesity
Kubuntu.

In my home directory there are two mounted file sytems on smbfs one is on
a windows server the other is on a linux server. The index has been run
and I cannot get any search results.

trackerd is up

Here is output. There a thousands of documents with the word deed on all
searched folders.

tracker-search -d deed
tracker-search: internal tracker error: Did not receive a reply. Possible
causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message
bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the
network connection was broken.

Aplogies if I missed this anywhere on the List I have tried

sounds like either dbus session bus is not running (try dbus-launch) or
trackerd is crashing?

I worked out what it was. The windows server that is mounted is a windows 2000
NTFS. Running over smbfs it is still very slow and times out. I have tried
with cifs but cifs scramble file permissions and I have never manged to get
that sorted out. Fortunately the windows server does not really have anything
I want to search so I excluded it from cfg file and index and search works a
treat.

Tracker will definitely replace Beagle on my desktops :-)
