2007/9/26, jamie <jamiemcc blueyonder co uk>:
we already use libgsf for getting metadata from ms office and open
office
[...]
for getting plain text we use existing tools like wvtext and o3read in
shell scripts
[...]
can libgsf be used for getting plain text from office docs - if so we
could write our own app to do that
yes; I have especially ask for that feature (extract plain text and
metadata); as I need it for my project too.
wvware used a forked copy of the older libole2 which Jody Goldberg had
maintained. Goldberg mentioned that it was ok for reading files <
6.8meg and handled simple metadata and he pointed out that libgsf is
superior.
pls confirm with any code samples if its possible?
sorry, i don't have any related code right now.
I am currently porting GLib and libgsf to a non-unix platform.
