Does the XMP file have to have a special file name,
or is the name of the described file part of the XMP data itself?
Read the specification, look for XMP sidekick files
http://www.adobe.com/products/xmp/
In case someone else is interested: the XMP files have to be in the same
directory and have the same file name with an additional .xmp suffix.
They are called side*car* (not -kick) files and contain ordinary XML.
The only reference to the described file is the file name itself (the
xmp data also contains a DocumentID field that should match the
described files DocumentID, but not every file has a document ID).
Best,
-Nikolaus
