Open the menu with the mouse, and move to the thing you want. Then
type the key combo you want, and it should change to that one. Use
backspace to delete combos (so backspace can not be used). It is a
GTK+ feature. If it does not work, fill a bug.
Im new to the list, but i have been using Gnome for about a year
i had heard that suggested before, but never actually used it and forgot
about it so thanks for the suggestion.
If i had sent the same message to application list and not a usability
list then that is exactly the kind of response i deserved (or the submit
a patch reponse).
I think it is important to provide sensible default keybindings for as
much as possible, the web page i linked to said this was "for
discussion" and so i was discussing it. One or the other should be set
by default.
Most users will never define their own keybindings and just use the
program as is. Other users i expect would want keybindings resembling
their favorite programs ie emacs and vim keybindings, or perhaps
keybindings like Winamp and XMMS if it was a sound/video/media player.
Users might also get annoyed at having to set the same keybindings for
every program, i know i would/do.
again im new to the list and i dont know who the regulars are or how
things get done, so i apologise if im out of line but im just trying to
play my part. ill try and take some time to read through the archives
and maybe get to understand whats going on a bit better.
Im a critic, not a diplomat.
