[Usability]req: paste & replace

It would be nice to be able to paste into selected text, and replace it 
with text from the clipboard.
I think an elegant solution, is that, instead of the middle mouse button 
immediately pasting from the
clipboard, instead, it brings up a menu, much like clicking the middle 
mouse button on the root
(desktop) window.
This popup menu would list items in the clipboard, or more precisely, 
list the multiple clipboards.
As an added level of sophistication, instead of showing the whole 
lengthy clipboard, it would just
show the first ~20 chars, for example.
If 2 clipboards are similar, it could show the first 20 chars, starting 
at the difference.
I hope the design ideas I come up with, will actually get implemented, 
if they pass peer review.
