Hi folks
I get a lot of complaints regarding unclear semantics of the keyboard
layout options. I admit these complaints are generally reasonable. Even
though the options are useful - people are just confused with them,
users do not understand which options to choose for their particular
situation. I realize that the problem is (mostly?) related to improper
option names people see in the dialog. These names are taken from
xorg.xml (or xfree86.xml). I maintain xkeyboard-config project, which is
aimed to become the reference xkb config database - including xml config
data registry. I would be interested in improving the situation with the
keyboard options - by giving them precise, clean, descriptive, non-
ambiguous descriptions. Could the GNOME's usability force help me with
this problem? Could we do something together to clean these Augean
stables?
Thanks for any comments
Sergey
