er... it's on my plans. I do have a half conversion of the samab4 vfs cifs module to vala.

Seriously, I
wouldn't advice that. Vala is still in it's infancy to be taken so far
unless you are really eager to contribute lots of patches to Vala that
will extend it in the ways you want/need it to be.
  

I have some patches against vala 0.4* to improve compact class support.

I'm effectively using vala as a powerful C pre-processor - I check that it generates the C I ought to have been writing, but enjoy writing vala.

However I've not had time to touch vala since the summer, sadly.
