[xml] Install advice

Hi,

I have to update my libxml2 on my test machine (redhat 7.2).

I have tried with rpm --rebuild libxml2.4.30 but it gives me an error.

So I have compiled and installed libxml2.4.30.tar.gz. 

The command "make install" has installed the lib under /usr/local/lib but under /usr/lib I have the old ones:

/usr/lib/libxml2.a
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root          702 Jul  8  2002 /usr/lib/libxml2.la
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           17 Dec  3 09:32 /usr/lib/libxml2.so -> libxml2.so.2.4.23

-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root       756834 Jul  8  2002 /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2.4.23



How can I do? Can I delete the old ones?
