When I moved from balsa 1.4 to 2.0, my signature file was not attached 
because it contained a german national char ("ß"). Converting the 
signature file to utf-8 using iconv helped.

Can you print from other gnome2 apps like gedit? Gnome uses ps fonts, and 
afaik there is an app named gnome-font-install (run it as root) to set up 
the font database.
