OK:

$ brian pc:~$ touch /home/brian/sieve.script 

and the beagle log reports:

20070123 12:44:43.6572 06019 Beagle DEBUG: *** Add '/home/brian' 'sieve.script' (file)

Yet:

$ echo 'select * from file_attributes where filename = "sieve.script";' | sqlite3 ~/.beagle/Indexes/FileSystemIndex/FileAttributesStore.db
