Re: Running vs starting apps [rambled to: global shortcuts]

Yes, I agree. What you suggest is EXACTLy the direction I was thinking.
Personally, i like the mac kebindings (alt-?), instead of the windows method
(ctrl-?).

I would almost say that, by default, gnome apps should simply not have any
default keybings, and then allow the global keybindings (mac, windows, be,
whatever style) be the default until otherwise edited.

As an aside, after looking at the GConf stuff, I really like the idea. While
i am a debian user, I love the Gnome Control Center and LinuxConf.... If the
GnomeControl Center could basically combine/synthesize with linuxconf so
ALL aspects of the computer (hardware, drivers, users, GUI config, keybings,
desktop stuff, application configuration, etc.) could be configured in the tree
view/node view that linuxconf/Gnomme Control Center does.

I see Gconf as being a step in that direction to have a good, easy, powerful
standard way of being ABLE to configure everything, but leaving it open for
LDAP or database manipulation.
