Helix gnome-core 1.2.2.1 and menu memory

I have upgraded to gnome-core-1.2.2.1-0_helix_1
and have a feeling that the effect of 'keep menu in memory'
has changed.

With gnome-core-1.2.2 (also helix)
with this option enabled, the menu icons really were scanned once
(one the first use of menu/submenu you can see how they are rendered)
but on subsequent use they were appearing immediately, through the whole

duration (at least of not too long) session.

With 1.2.2.1 the main nemu icons seems to be always redrawn on each
launch of the menu.
While submenu's are kept in the memory while you are scrolling back and
forth,
on the next launch of the menu they are redrawn often again (not sure if
every time).

It does have sluggish feel on my not so fast machine.

Was anything changed in this part of the code ?
