gnome-session's socket gets deleted

The socket created for/by/owned by gnome-session in /tmp/.ICE-unix disappears after a few minutes in X, on two fedora core 2 machines with all updates(from fc2 tips and tricks page as well).
Why does it disappear after a while? It reappears after X is restarted.
