I was thinking of something like this, but with one
major difference difference: the items down the
left-hand pane are not categories, they are *filters*.
This means:
- there can be a 'List all' filter at the top, for
those who like a long flat list
- one item can appear in several categories
- categories could be customized by editing a config
file (and perhaps eventually in the GUI too)
