"check mail" hangs balsa

Just refreshed balsa from CVS.

I like the progress window when you
are downloading mail from POP, but
it has a problem where sometimes
it successfully downloads mail, 
while displaying "Checking mail"

Then the progress window changes
to "local mail", and completely
locks up the application.  If I
kill the app and restart it,
all the downloaded mail is there.

Any ideas?
