SMTP and strange characters

Hi,
Do you think that SMTP code handles properly 8-bit characters? I just
look for explanation fo this strange ÿèxÿæ8ÿè8DATA sequences
people get in the messages.
Anthony, do you use sendmail or smtp mode for sending? Can you
reproduce your problem?
