It's possible that there is a hidden bias at work here...
When the run dialog got switched to the new version (with the list of
applications), the set of existing users suddenly found that their
command-line was hidden untill they clicked "advanced". They found this
highly annoying. So, maybe this new application list has an unfair prejudice
built-up against it because it suddenly got in the way of all the users who
are looking for a command-line.
A possible fix that would allow old-timers and new-timers to coexist would be
to put the applications list and the command-line at the same hierarchical
level -- instead of hiding the command-line until the user clicks "advanced",
why not allow the users to hide the applications list and view only the
command-line?

Hey,
I'm getting quite a few comments that the list of applications
in the run dialog isn't useful and just slows down the dialog e.g.

So I'd like to hear comments from a wider audience. Also, what
do the usability team think ?
Cheers,
Mark.
