Hi Craig:
I've thought about this in the past, and from a purely ui perspective I
think that integrating package management into nautilus would be an
ideal solution. However as others have mentioned this is really a distro
oriented issue. At the gnome level though we can help accomodate this by
providing the neccessary hooks to allow distributors to do this easily,
including item specific context menus in nautilus (when i context click
an rpm there should be an option to install it in the menu) and
providing the mechanism for an rpm database view (this can be done
through vfs) from which rpms can be installed and removed etc.[1]
