This would be a bad idea, particularly since Gamma isn't really colour correction. It's brightness done smart: black stays black, the lighter the colour the lighter it gets as gamma goes up.

Also, I think Gamma isn't a very technical term at all. It certainly shouldn't be dropped from the label name.

Perhaps the best way is to have a little photo next to each slider that shows what would happen if the slider is turned up about 50%. People would catch on to that visual information much more easily that any label. But the label itself should remain "gamma".
