Are you volunteering to build stable Gnome 2.6 packages for the distros
on which we ship snapshots? There are not stable, supported-by-vendor
distributions that include Gnome 2.6 from Mandrake, SuSE, or Red Hat,
that I am aware of. We ship snaps for Mandrake 9.1 and 9.2, Red Hat 9,
and SuSE 8.2, 9.0, and 9.1. Depending on a totally new stack would kill
our testing, as we couldn't have snapshots without also shipping a
Gnome 2.6 desktop on all of those distros, which we don't have the
resources to do (yes, time is a resource too). I also don't believe
anyone has written/submitted a patch that just did this stuff through
the use of #ifdef, so that we were still compilable and usable on the
older distributions. I would be all for a patch to #ifdef GTK_VERSION
(2, 4, 0) or something for the file chooser dialog, though, it isn't
totally my decision if it goes in or not.
