That could be useful. But even if we had that in gnome-vfs Nautilus
wouldn't be able to use it, since all i/o is going through a common i/o
abstraction (NautilusFile) that could be used for several toplevels at
the same time.
It'll probably be hard to get it into the API in a nice way without
breaking it though.
