How about supporting BitTorrent downloads transparently? The currently 
popular graphical bt frontends are decidedly non-GNOMEish.

gnome-btdownload is fairly gnomeish

There's a bug open about BitTorrent support in the Epiphany download 
manager, but it's unlikely that that will ever be added, as BitTorrent 
requires the download window to stay open after the download has 
completed (since it will function as a seed from that point on).

True, though BitTorrent isn't really a download process, it is a sharing process (and only really works when the people using it understand this).
