Re: Introducing Yashi Upadhyay, Implement spell check, search, and replace

Hi Yashi,

It looks like the project you’ve chosen is Builder[1], from the SoC 2016 ideas page[2]. Builder is an multilanguage IDE for GNOME.

I’d recommend you start by having a look at the Builder project website, especially the Contribute[3] section, which helpfully links to a list of “newcomer bugs”. Browse some of those to get a feel for the project codebase (and try to fix — the GSoC programme suggests you should contribute code before or during your application).

Beyond that, I’m sure Christian will be able to point you in the right direction.

Hope that helps!

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

I am an undergraduate student currently pursuing B.Tech.(3rd Year) in  Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar. I have strong knowledge in fields like: Data Structures, Algorithm Design and Analysis, Operating Systems, programming languages (C, C++, Java) , Web technologies(_javascript_,  HTML,  PHP) and app-platform like Android.

I am very enthusiastic student who works with sheer dedication, determination and hard work, given a chance I would surely perform to best of my abilities and will prove to be an asset to the organisation.

I looked at all the projects, but I am intrigued by Implement spell check, search, and replace project whose mentor is Christian Hergert. I have the basic understanding of the project, but there are some queries regarding the project as given below:

1. How am I supposed to proceed further and do more research on this project?

2. What are the cases I am supposed to implement? Is there any pre finalised algorithm that I have to implement or I have to develop in on my own?

3. How can I contact to my mentor and discuss about more about the project?

4. If possible, can you provide more relevant study material, documentation which will help me making the project more efficient?

I will be highly grateful to the authority to clarify me on the further process and take me forward.

Looking forward to see you reply soon.

Thanks and Regards.
