It's been a while, but IIRC I wanted a reading list mode to not be
totally dependent on Pocket. We could sync it to Pocket though, since
that fits in nicely with our existing Firefox Sync support, but there
should be local storage too.

If support for a more ethical alternative to Pocket, e.g. Wallabag, was
added using the same API (note, I don't know how GOA work and I am just
assuming things) then the hard dependency on Pocket would be dropped,
even though it's not a local solution.

I completely agree with Michael and Adrien here: I would rather have a
local reading list as well, and syncing would be an extra on top.

Personally I would favour Wallabag over Pocket, but I understand that
it can be useful and can be considered to fit well with the “we sync the
things Firefox can do as well” idea, and I wouldn't be against having support
for Pocket.

BTW, the reader mode currently available in Ephy is already one step in the
direction; I've found myself manually saving some thing to read later with
the “Save As...”, then loading the “.mhtml” and immediately switching the
reader mode. We would need some UI and automation over this manual process
:-)

Cheers,
