Re: garnome 2.10.0 compile issues on Solaris 8

Hi all,

this is what I've used for compiling GARNOME (with gnome 2.6) on Solaris 9:

path is set to contain this directory as the first element:

drwxr-xr-x   2 100      other        512 Apr 20  2004 .
drwxrwxr-x   3 root     other        512 Mar 21 08:42 ..
lrwxrwxrwx   1 100      other          4 Mar 21 08:42 awk -> gawk
lrwxrwxrwx   1 100      other          7 Mar 21 08:42 cc -> gcc-3.3
lrwxrwxrwx   1 100      other         16 Mar 21 08:42 cp -> /opt/sfw/bin/gcp

/usr/sfw/bin/wget

This contains many months of iterative adding/removing stuff to/from
this directory, so this may be helpful for you.

Also, be advised, that if you compile GTK+, GLIB and Mozilla with GCC,
you _NOT_ be able to use Java plugin in any browser!!! Compiling Mozilla
with Forte and all other packages with GCC does not help a lot, although
it is possible. It's not recommended and buggy.

If you need Mozilla with working Java, you may need to use Sun's
compiled Mozilla (which has its own GTK/GLIB packaged).

If running Solaris, consider running JDS (Java Desktop System) or
packages from blastware.org (I guess; I haven't tried yet, but my
coleague did and it was running almost as fine as my own compiled GNOME.)

Prepare for hehavy patching, if you will compile GARNOME on Solaris.

Regards,
VIX
