Hello Raul,

Simply point your GARCHIVEDIR to the same location as the one for 2.10.0 
and it will use the available tarballs.
It works, I do this since I first started with GARNOME (around GNOME 2.6 
I think), my GARCHIVEDIR now weights around 1.5GB ...
