What does "some" mean?
As for freetype -- you are right, unfortunately. I checked, and it seems
to still be down. :/ GAR, how often can the stable master sites break?
NOTE: Savannah is currently down! [1] This seems to affect both [2]
flavors. Garballs with a temporarily broken download server are
bootstrap/freetype and geektoys/mail-notification.
Freetype unfortunately is a hard dependency and will be built early.
However, there is an easy workaround. cd bootstrap/freetype, and edit
the Makefile. Change the one line that starts with MASTER_SITES to read:
MASTER_SITES = http://dl.sourceforge.net/freetype/
This will fix the download issue and use an alternative server. To make
GARNOME more resistent to such failures, I'll add the additional
location in SVN.
[1] From http://gnu.org/: "Savannah is currently experiencing technical
difficulties related to a hardware failure. Stop by #savannah on
irc.gnu.org for further announcements.
[2] savannah.gnu.org and savannah.nongnu.org

Since Joseph already answered this one, just an additional hint: Please
check the archives and read the thread "gar.lib.mk still wrong" from
early this month. There are plans WRT external dependencies.
