Well, looking at the Makefile for gnome-speech, I can see why this isn't
building perhaps.
Note the following lines:

BUILD_JAVA_PACKAGE =
(no directory is given; do I want the location of the sdk package?)

JAVA = no
JAVAC = no
JAVA_HOME =

but I see that editing the Makefile is not the recommended way of fixing this,
so i'm not exactly sure how to proceed.
