Hi, Don.
Don't worry about compiling sawfish. You don't need sawfish. Sawfish is a
window maniger, but Gnome 2 uses the metacity window maniger.
I believe the latest metacity releases comes with garnome, and as long as
metacity is compiled and installed you are set.
