Re: Installing Gnome on Redhat 7.1 - is it possible

Hello, Rich.
Ok, you really really should get a newer version of Red Hat not only for
installs like this, but for security as well as other reasons.
What applications are you worried about compatibility issues with? I have
both a 8.0 system and a 9.0 system which I could test these applications
with, or recompile them on to see if they will work on newer versions of RH.
As for sighted assistence Red Hat can be installed by you if you have a
second computer to read the prompts. For example:
I've kept on hand an old 486 with Jaws for dos and the commo terminal
software which I hook up to the Linux computers serial port, and read the
install prompts from the IBM 486 with win 95 on it.
If you want to use your Windows screen reader to do the install I suggest
using Terraterm Pro although I still think the dos screen reader commo does
just a little better job.
