Is this problem caused by the fact that GConf now depends on D-Bus, and
when you run a GUI via gksu, the root-running process can't connect to
the D-Bus session?
If so, running "dbus-launch --exit-with-session (cmd)" instead of just
"(cmd)" might work better.
When I try this command, the whole desktop hangs, the only way, I can recover is get into console mode and kill the dbus process and return back to X mode.
My system info: Ubuntu 8.04.1 / GNOME 2.22.3 Accerciser also hangs in both the cases.
Thanks

Unfortunately most applications are using gksu to run administrative
apps.
Under ubuntu intrepid I can run such applications using sudo from a
gnome-terminal.
This does the job but it would be cool to have access to these Programs
using their starters.
The Problems are:
When I start gksu -k synaptic,
Orca stopps working.
Can someone confirm this or can help to get this working?
The goal should be to have this stuff accessible without tweaking keys
etc in gconf!
Please
help

Halim
