Problem adding applets libraries to Makefile.am

Hi people.

I don't know if anyone has used the $(GNOME_APPLET_LIBS) in a Makefile.am
file because it never worked for me. Maybe I'm not using the right method
to add the applet libraries to my program. I have looked in some programs
for some examples but I only find the applets from gnome-core and gtkICQ.
The first works with the libs directly and the second uses old macros.
I could add the libs by hand doing a copy+paste of the output of 
gnome-config but I think it's stupid.

Can anyone help me out on this.
