File selection dialogs and hidden files

Is it just me, or does the standard file selection widget not display 
hidden files?  This is particularly bothersome in cases like the 
panel's Menu Properties page, on which one would like to browse into 
.gnome to find a menu directory...

I'm inclined to file this as a bug, but I don't know if it should be 
against gtk+, gnome-libs, panel, etc?  Or am I just missing something?
