./configure and gcc

Hi all!
I am trying to compile GNOME-DB on Solaris. I have just installed gcc-2.8.1 and would like to compile with it, but, when I run configure, it detects the cc compiler.
My question is: how can I tell configure to use gcc instead of sun compiler?
