plugin interface

Hi all.

I would like to rewrite my app (eears) to have it full plug-in customizable.
Something like... nearly everything to be a plugin. From waveform (my app
is a sound editor) displayer... to anything else. Especially it would
be important to have it for filters (add echo... and so on).

I would like to have it working through CORBA, so anyone could
write his own plugin in his preferred language.

What do you think about this?
Has anyone done something similar?
