I think the point was that writing the code for either GConf or gnome-config
is a bitch.  I don't see why you couldn't just put four lines into a file,
run some perl on it to spit out your config code, do your interface in
glade binnd it all togetherr with a couple lines of code annd be done.  It
would also reduce on typos a lot (There were a whole bunch of bugs in the
bugtracker that were just typos in the config code).  The config code
should be very simple to generate in fact.  Maybe not generate but actually
read and do in runtime in a libglade style.
